Learning to Use a Computer is Like Lighting a Fire!

If you’ve ever built a fire (or seen someone build one) then you may have noticed this:

To build a successful fire, you need these ingredients: It’s called the “Fire Triangle” and the three ingredients are “Heat”, “Fuel” and “Oxygen”.

Sometimes there is just the right amount of each ingredient, and the fire takes off without any problems at all.

Other times, it just won’t start at all. That’s when you need to check that you have the right amount of all three ingredients.

But what I’m focusing on today is when you think that you have done something correctly, but when it doesn’t come together how you think it should, then you feel discouraged.

Your thought patterns can become negative, like ‘I’m no good at this, or I will never be able to, or I just can’t seem to learn/grasp how to….’ and so you do one of three things:

You can just let it go out completely thinking ‘see, I knew I was no good at lighting fires, and this just confirms it’ OR you pile SO much wood on that you smother it and it goes out completely OR you give it just a little bit of a tweak here and there, and sit back patiently, believing that whilst it isn’t showing many signs of life yet, that it will, given time.

And yes, it may not take off like crazy had you the perfect ingredients in the first place, but you are LEARNING a better way for next time! It is like that with SO Many things in life, and learning to use a computer is no exception!

Just like with learning how to light a fire, it may not come together completely in the beginning.

At this stage, many people just give up, thinking that it’s too hard, or they just can’t grasp it. But in reality, all it may be is that you don’t yet have all the knowledge that is needed to complete the task or that you just need to tweak something here or there.

I understand this fully! I went through the same feelings when I first started out! And that is why I can help you; whether you need quite a bit of training or just a few tweaks, here and there.

As Confucius once said “He who says he can and he who says he can’t, are both usually right’.

Have an awesome day! Jo
